Great success at Wether Challenge

Great success at Wether Challenge

Congratulations to the West Wyalong High School students who participated in the NSW Schools Merino Wether Challenge this week. Agriculture teacher, Miss Maslin was proud of her team of students who looked very professional while presenting their wethers!

On the first day, while the students were on the mat, the wethers were judged on restocker value and wool quality. Within our zone, which included many schools from Narrabri to Yanco, West Wyalong High School won first place in the Wool Value.

WWHS also won the Combined Zones in wool value with the high quality produced by our wethers. This is an amazing achievement to win the wool quality section with more than 69 schools participating over the two days.

On the last day, our top three wethers were awarded second place in our zone for carcass value judged by Fletchers Meats. It was exciting to have Rod Hardie, the president of our major sponsor, the West Wyalong & District Sheep Breeders Association present for this award.

Throughout the competition, West Wyalong High School was complimented on their presentation of both themselves and their wethers. Well done to all involved!
