LACHLAN CUP CRICKET

The Lachlan Cup Cricket team travelled to Cowra recently to play their final pool match of the competition. A win in the match would have ensured a Grand Final appearance. Unfortunately for the team, they were outplayed by a better team on the day.

It all started well with Captain Jack Parkes winning the toss and electing to bat. Proceedings quickly turned against them with quick wickets leading to progress scores of 3/16 and 6/36. The top order all paid the penalty for hitting the ball in the air and the opposition held all of the easy catches. From that point it was a struggle with the tail adding another 13 runs to finish all out for 49. Jack Parkes compiled 12 before his solid innings came to a premature end while Jasper Loudon played some good shots in his total of 10.

Defending a small total was never going to be easy and it was made more frustrating as several shots landed just out of reach of our boys in the field. Some inroads were made into their batting line up with wickets to Jack Parkes and Toby Rees in addition to two quick run outs. In the end the boys needed another 40 runs to be competitive and the home team secured victory with four wickets down and went through to the Grand Final of the Lachlan Cup.
