On the 16th of September, the West Wyalong High School under 15's girls basketball team competed at home against Fairvale High School. The girls were switched on right from the start and put on an early lead of 14 - 3 in the first quarter due to some terrific defensive efforts. The girls used their fitness to their advantage and were able to force multiple turnovers and push up the court for some easy lay ups.
Fairvale competed right up to the final siren however, our girls were able to serve up some good old fashioned country hospitality and send their opponents packing with a defeat of 44 - 17.
The team consisted of Anna Rogers, Georgia Miller, Bridie White, Olivia Hopper, Loudy Bishop, Emma Miller, Brianna Hanrahan, Charlee Jones and Makayla Cooper. Our next opponent will be Nowra High School with our girls competing in the final 16 of the state. Congratulations girls and good luck in the next game.
Special mention to our referee's Lesa Matthews and Bailey Schneeberger, scorers Sheree Hanrahan and Shannon Milsom, without your help these games would be difficult to run. Also a big thankyou to all the family, friends and community members that cheered on our girls to victory.
