Ten students from Penrith arrived in West Wyalong on Sunday 3rd September, excited for a rural adventure. The students were billeted by families in West Wyalong and spent the week touring the region and sharing in new experiences.
West Wyalong High School staff organised an itinerary for the students which included visits to the Lake Cowal Conservation Centre, Lake Cowal Mine, the Forbes Sheep Sale, and the Parkes Telescope over the first two days. On Wednesday 6th of September the students helped to set up the West Wyalong Show and then spent the afternoon enjoying the rides, pavillions and exhibits.
The Penrith students also visited the Temora Rural Museum and Aviation Museum. They were taken on a tour of Pace Farms and spent time at Tallimba Public School to understand the operations of a "small school". The Penrith students were also able to visit a Sheep and Cropping Enterprise farm to finish off their rural adventure.
The students were very grateful to the families that have billeted them for the week and amazed by their new experiences.
