The organisers of the Evolution Mines Rescue Challenge approached West Wyalong High School and asked for student volunteers. The student volunteers were to be dressed up as casualties for the rescue simulations over the four days.
The students were provided with explanations of the scenarios and asked to act out certain injuries and roles. They were covered in make-up and the injuries looked real. One scenario included an explosion in the top floor of the abandoned three story building being used a meth-lab, another scenario was a bus accident.
All of the students that were involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Some photos of the students and their "injuries" are available in the photo gallery.
