In the last rotation, the year 8's focused on developing their skills and knowledge in three key areas: Algebra, Area and Volume, and Statistics. In the topic of Algebra, students were catching monsters each time they successfully solved an equation or expression when they mastered a new algebraic technique. In Area and Volume, the students designed a 2-dimensional plan for a farm and then took each part of their farm into the 3rd dimension to demonstrate their skills for finding surface area and volume of each shape used in their 3D farm models.
In statistics, students joined forces to design a survey to collect their own data, or researched to find other sources for data. They then transformed the data into graphs using Microsoft Excel and created an electronic poster using various technological platforms. Finished posters were entered into The West Wyalong Show in a new section called ‘statistics'. The results are as follows;
