TOM KEMP SHIELD RUGBY LEAGUE

 The team at Nyngan.

On Tuesday 13th June 2017, the West Wyalong High School Tom Kemp Shield (Under 16's) side played Gilgandra at Ron Crowe Oval. In a very entertaining game of football, West Wyalong came away with a golden point win, 28 points to 24 points.

The West Wyalong boys should be very proud of their efforts. They were solid in defence throughout the game and controlled the ball well in attack. Lachlan Miller was sensational for West Wyalong scoring a length of the field try from the kick off in the last five minutes of the second half. In golden point Lachlan split the Gilgandra defence from a scrum, which gave West Wyalong victory when he scored near the posts.

Tries – Lachlan Miller (3), Cody Cooper (1), Harry Jud (1), Billy Jones (2 converions).

The team consisted of Rhyle Davis, Isaac Tukuafu, Joe Amarant, Jack Parkes, Ethan Rowe, Heath Redman, Cody Cooper, Billy Jones, Harry Judd, Lachlan Miller, Joe Fixter, Ebenezer Sannga, Toby Whyte, Darcy White and Jack Koop.

A big thank you to Rodney Crowe, for refereeing the game.

This win qualified the team for the semi final of the Tom Kemp Shield. This was played at Nyngan on the 27th of June. Nyngan High School were very determined and the half time score was 10 points to 6 in favour of Nyngan. In the second half Nyngan played a very disciplined game and defeated West Wyalong 36 points to 6.

Again the West Wyalong boys should be very proud of their efforts. They tried hard throughout the game and never gave up. To reach the final four in a Combined High Schools (CHS) knockout competition is an outstanding effort.

The team that travelled to Nyngan was Jake Jewell, Darcy White, Myles Harland, Isaac Tukuafu, Ebenezer Sannga, Jasper Loudon, Jack Parkes, Ethan Rowe, Joe Fixter, Cody Copper, Harry Judd, Lachlan Miller, Billy Jones, Joe Amarant, Heath Redman, Toby Whyte, Kobe Pursehouse, Rhyle Davis, Toby Rees and Lachie Taylor.
