On Tuesday 13th of June seven West Wyalong High School students and four West Wyalong Public School students left for Sydney for the Boys Vocal Program.
The program was designed to encourage boys to sing, expose them to correct singing techniques and show them the recording process of a song and film clip.
The program consisted of two days of rehearsals at the ABC studio and a third day of recording at the Trackdown recording studio. The West Wyalong boys were joined by other boys from across NSW all coming together to learn and sing "Throw Your Arms Around Me" by Hunters and Collectors.
The seven boys from West Wyalong High School were Frazer Holland, Myles Harland, Max Wilson, Tom Apolony, Jake Jewell, Oscar Mason and Sam Jewell. The filmclip and final mix of the song will be available approximately six weeks after the recording concluded on the 16th June.
To enhance the experience of being in Sydney, the boys also had a tour of the Sydney Opera house, saw the lights of "Vivid", met the NSW Governor David Hurley, walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, around Circular Quay and the Botanical Gardens and held an ARIA award.
There are more photos of the boy's experience in the photo gallery.
