After claiming joint Western Region Champions, the West Wyalong High School Boys Basketball team competed in the round of 32 in the state knockout. The team travelled to Wagga Wagga to compete against Kooringal High School at Bolton Park Stadium. After a slow paced game throughout the first three quarters, the game quickly changed going into the fourth
only to see the ball rim out and force both teams to enter an overtime period. West Wyalong High School then proceeded to play stronger defense causing Kooringal High to turn the ball over allowing West Wyalong High to capitalise and get some easy fast break baskets and run out winners 47-46.
The team then travelled to Penrith play against Hills Sports High School in the fourth round of competition with a win securing a place in the CHS final 8 tournament. The game was highly contested with the lead going back and forth all game. At the end of the first four quarters the scores were gain tied. This meant that West Wyalong had to again go into overtime. This was the teams' last chance to make the state finals. However, it wasn't to be. Unfortunately, Hills Sports High got hot, hitting some very difficult shots and winning the game by a margin of four points.
The team consisted of Angus Sutcliffe, Chaz Bishop, Reece Turner, Alex Schneeberger, Lachlan Miller, Jack Parkes, Darcy White Luke Cameron, Rowan Duncan and Zac Hanrahan.
