Both the University Shield (Opens) team and the Buckley Shield (Under 14s) team won their Rugby League games during the last week of term 1.
The University Shield team played on Tuesday the 4th of April where West Wyalong High School defeated Forbes High School 24 points to 20. The game was a close encounter with solid defence and entertaining attack. West Wyalong High allowed Forbes back into the game with silly errors and some undisciplined play. An aspect that Coach Brad Lees said nearly cost them the game. Try scorers for the game were Lachie Miller, Reece Turner, Will McMartin, Harry Judd and Shannon Cooper with conversions to Reece Turner and Will McMartin.
The University Shield team from West Wyalong High School consisted of Reece Turner, Tyler Turner, Billy Fixter, Brendan McKenzie, Addan Sannga, Max Jones, Will McMartin, Shannon Cooper, Harry Judd, Jordan Ungaro, Angus Sutcliffe, Cody Cooper, Lachie Miller, Jack Parkes, Dylan McKenzie, Ethan Rowe, Tom Herrick, Joe Amarant and Lachlan Taylor.
The Buckley Shield team travelled to Parkes on Friday the 7th of April. West Wyalong High School defeated Parkes 64 points to 4 points in a very impressive display of Rugby League. The boys turned up ready to play and demonstrated disciplined Rugby League throughout the game. They moved up in defence and moved the ball around the field in attack. Try scorers for the game were Hayden Cooper, Bailey Schneeberger, Zac Hanrahan, Logan Collins, Bobby Jones, Max Wilson, Luke Cameron, Rowan Duncan, Mitchell Collins (2) and Dylan McCartney (2). Bobby Jones kicked 5 conversions and Dylan McCartney kicked 3.
The Buckley Shield team from West Wyalong High School consisted of Logan Collins, Jack Jameison, Luke Cameron, Hayden Cooper, Rowan Duncan, Bobby Jones, Jaxon Lemon, Dylan McCartney, Oscar Wood, Mitchell Collins, Zane Lemon, Charlie Tulloch, Charlie McCaskie, Max Wilson, Zac Hanrahan, Brady Lebneer and Bailey Schneeberger.
