On Friday the 13th of December the West Wyalong High School Year 9 Leadership team travelled to Temora to compete in the Golden Plains Dramatic Minds Festival. This was held at the Temora Ex Services club and its purpose is to use the arts to explore mental health in secondary schools from a student perspective.
The students spent a few weeks preparing and writing a short play to highlight the effect of bullying and the importance of support people in the lives of students at risk.
The script for the play was written by Jake Jewel and Tom Apolony played the lead role. The students did a great performance on the day and narrowly missed out on winning their category. Several other schools competed from around the region with plays, short films and dances being showcased.
