On Thursday 14th September, West Wyalong High School hosted both Leeton High School and Deniliquin High School in the next round of the NSW CHS 15's basketball knockout.
West Wyalong High School displayed good skills and comfortably won both matches. The girls defeated Leeton 76 to 25 and the boys defeated Deniliquin 56 to 36.
Both teams then moved into the final 16 and were fortunate enough to have another home game with Leumeah High School and Bonnyrigg High School in West Wyalong on Tuesday 17th of October.
The girls team faced up against an athletic and strong Leumeah High School team. After a slow start to the game the West Wyalong girls began to take control. The girls played a great game of team basketball, where everybody contributed to the win. West Wyalong High School ended up winning the game somewhat convincingly and advanced into the final 8 tournament held in Terrigal in week 4. The team consisted of Catherine Hood, Mackenzie Parkes, Tayla Leadbitter, Lydia White, Aime Jewell, Tiarne Lloyd, Mackayla Cooper, Georgia Miller and Bridie White.
The boys then went onto to play a very physical and imposing Bonnyrigg High School team. West Wyalong got off to a slow start but slowly chipped away and began leading by 3 points heading into halftime. Bonnyrigg High began to dominate the rebounding battle and allowed them to create fast break opportunities for easy baskets. West Wyalong High School boy's team was defeated, which meant they have been eliminated from the tournament. The team consisted of Jake Jewell, Tom Apolony, Sam Glasgow, Kody Pilon, Rowan Duncan, Luke Cameron, Bailey Schneeberger, Will Crossman, Logan Collins and Zac Hanrahan.
